OIV or VTK
OIV or VTK
What library preferable to use for the medical images visualization: OIV or VTK?
Re: OIV or VTK
I believe that these 2 libraries can perfectly work with the visualization of medical images. Open Inventor is a high-performance 3D software development toolkit for professional applications. It has great number of visualization features and quite a few demo applications (samples how to use it) related to computer graphics including medical images proccesing.
Nevertheless VTK is an open-source, freely available software system (In contrast to the OIV, it does not require the purchase of additional licenses) and it has more vast set of visualization features. Also VTK surpasses with background (reference documentation, books, user support).

Re: OIV or VTK
I wouldn't say that there are a lot of bugs. Of course, we can encounter them, but vtk is periodically updated to correct these bugs. In addition, they have feedback, which also helps to resolve these bugs.
About Open Inventor, I have encountered bugs more than once as well.
